Business meetings of the Libertarian Party of Fayette County are open to all current members. Although we try to keep our meetings on the Regular Schedule (below), exceptions happen, so please check the Event Calendar for the latest information (including time and location).
All business and committee meetings are conducted as parliamentary proceedings under Robert's Rules of Order. If you're not familiar with these proceedings, just let one of us know when you first attend, and we'll be happy to help you out. In particular, we want to make sure your voice is heard if you have something to say, so don't be intimidated by the relative formality of the proceeding--it's really simple: just raise your hand and wait to be "recognized" by the meeting chair (and you may keep it up while others are speaking, or lower it and raise it again when the member speaking "yields the floor"). If you're not sure when, or just want to be sure your point isn't missed, let an officer or the meeting chair know before the start of the meeting, and we'll be happy to make sure you are recognized at the appropriate time (when the "discussion is in order").
Regular business meetings and meetings of the Executive Committee (which are open to all then-current members as well) are the place you will also want to nominate officers for the next election. Read the by-laws to understand the nomination and election process.
Regular Schedule of Business Meetings
General membership meetings are usually on the fourth Saturday of every other month, unless otherwise announced. Time varies (but we usually shoot for around midday/lunch).
Monthly meetings of the Executive Committee are held on the second Friday every other month, usually at noon (for lunch, location varies).
Always check the event calendar to confirm times and locations! If you have a question, please use the contact form.
We love to get together and talk, and we love to hear what you have to say. Come and see us at any of our social meetings. The Event Calendar has the information you need.
